Route:
The tracing is based on
the rail-way which connected the two places, Cortina d’Ampezzo
and Dobbiaco, crossing breath-taking landscapes, surrounded by
an uncontaminated nature.
The
race starts in Cortina d’Ampezzo,
in Corso Italia, and, after 30 kms, ends in Dobbiaco. The
first part is softly uphill, with passages through galleries and
on small bridges which seem to be suspended in the air. The
Dolomites are always on your side, until you run downhill at the
Cima Banche Pass (1530m, the maximum high of the run), which not
only divides two places, but also two provinces and two
different regions. Respectively, Cortina d’Ampezzo (Belluno) in
Veneto and Dobbiaco (Bolzano) in Alto Adige. Going on, you
descend until Ladro Lake, where the 11,5K non-competitive race
starts. After that, the symbol of these places stands on the
right: the impressive and majestic Three Lavaredo Peaks. The
Cime di Lavaredo are world-wide famous for their unique beauty
and charme. After a few kilometres, you meet the Alpine Lake of
Dobbiaco, an other typical feature of the run. Leaving the wood,
you glimpse the first houses in Dobbiaco and start the last
kilometres which are on the asphalt. The last part is softly
downhill, and not very easy but finally the race is over and
your efforts stop at the wonderful park of Grand Hotel of
Dobbiaco, welcome by
a burst of cheering of the enthusiastic public.”
